Ron,
I visited Daisy Finney, Wednesday, in Freeport Florida which is in the panhandle of Florida. I drove directly to Florida after seeing you in Charleston after the Memorial service. I left Florida yesterday morning from Daisy's house and headed back to Chicago. This Frday morning, I am now north of Louisville Kentucky in Indiana.  I left the metals, hats and photos of Edwin with Daisy, which she was very appreciative.  I attach a retake of three photos of Edwin that were in his room. I used my cell phone camera. I believe the African American VA staff member in the first photo was at the Memorial Service, I do not know her name. The third photo is from a VA event in Albuquerque with Edwin in the back seat of a Jeep. Edwin's cremains are in the process of being prepared and then shipped to Rio Rancho New Mexico, where they will be placed next to those of his wife's, Marilyn Finney. I am arranging a memorial event there for the internment after the holidays, possibly later in January.  Thank you for coming to the Memorial Service and saying the wonderful and meaningful words about Edwin.  Thank you for all that you did for Edwin.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Dean Arnold

E. Passed peacefully yesterday.

Oh yea, I got over my jet lag and went to see him yesterday, even though desperately thin, he is still fairly lucid. For the first time, he admitted that his wife Marilyn was in heaven. That is good news as he formerly was angry if it was mentioned that she is "waiting for him in heaven". We celebrated Billy Holiday together, Fin even did a little arm and shoulder dancing. I direct him back to good memories, and he appears to enjoy them. It is a blessing to be back and with Fin regularly now.                                             Yours truly, Ron

Fin passed today, but not before, I asked him "you know you are loved" and he responded weakly "Yes", the last word from the dear man.
And he communion today from sweet Father Lawrence just before I asked him that... And his fav. aide was with him Becky, who was like an Angel to him. Sincerely, Ron

Ron,
Thank you for letting me know.  The long journey is over. The nurse Diane called me and let me know he passed earlier this evening.  I let Edwin's daughter Daisy know, and just got off the phone a few minutes ago. We were all expecting this, and Daisy took the news well. Thank you for all you have done for Edwin.  I will be communicating with social worker Susan Storm tomorrow, to find out all what is being done and what will need to be done.  This evening I understand an honor guard will remove Edwin from his room.  In talking to Father Lawerence in past visits, he said he was thinking about having a special Memorial Service for Edwin in the Chapel. Tomorrow I hope to find out what day that will be.  I would like to be there for the service, and would drive to Charleston.  I understand that Edwin's wishes were that he be cremated and his remains will be place next to his wife Marilyn in Rio Rancho New Mexico.  He prepaid for these arrangements, and I have been in contact with the funeral home in Rio Rancho.  I will continue to communicate with you and thank you for all you have done.
God Bless Edwin
Sincerely Dean
